IT TAKES A VERY GUTSY PERSON TO EVEN CONSIDER THIS ONE!
Some time back I accepted what proved to be one of the toughest challenges of my entire business career: To search out and develop a strategy for profitably day-trading gold futures. Until then, many had tried - but all had failed.
I will make a long and complex story short: After several weeks of trading umpteen contracts (over 12.7 million dollars in face gold) . . . I LOST $46,929.00!
Not too auspicious of a start . . . right? But then, sometimes the better things in life come about because of some nasty stuff that precludes it. Such was the case at hand:
Progressively, (inch by inch, it seemed - perhaps, more accurately, ‘ounce by ounce’ - of gold, that is!) I did in fact develop not one, but three separate systems which permitted me to comfortably day-trade on a potentially profitable basis.
(Specific and different strategies are employed for different days of the week, and some days it’s best not to take a position at all).
In due course, my ‘triple system’ became honed to the point where I could comfortably control (and did) as much as 46 million dollars in contracts at one time!
Now, when I want to, I can day-trade and reasonably anticipate profits of from several hundred to several thousands dollars per day. Actually, on any given trading day a total of about only one hour is needed.
The day I wrote this I made my usual call to my broker before leaving home, drove to the office in 20 minutes and had a net profit (after brokerage fees) of $5,666.00 waiting for me! I do not normally get that much daily, although the figures have been frequently in the $1,500 and up range.
Several close associates believe that the information about how my systems work is well worth at least $10,000 or more to another trader, as one could make that much in just one trading session given enough contracts.
One trader who observed the development of my systems commented that if he were me, he would not sell the data at all - but if he did, he’d ask a hundred thousand.
Not so long ago, in one of the commodity trade papers, a person who had developed a similar system for grains DID place a price of $100,000.00 on his system!
But as you may know, I’m a strange duck in that I have always shared my knowledge, experience and good fortune with others if I feel they could benefit, as well. Normally, such data is priced modestly. In this instance, I’m compelled to strike a compromise:
To price the same moderately - relative to its potential value to a trader - yet high enough to avert acquisition by the reckless or unsophisticated.
